"Space and surfing fanatic Danny, age 14, is dismayed when Mom whisks him away from Florida to meet his grandparents in Kerry, Ireland. It's July 1969, just days before Apollo 11 is due to blast off for the moon from Cape Kennedy, Florida. He makes a surf board from wood in his grandpa's shed and heads for the beach. He also meets some kids who live across the fields, including an adventurous girl called Eilis. Danny faces lots of challenges, besides those gigantic breakers and keeping track of Apollo 11 for his school space project. His grandpa is eccentric, his little sister more than a handful, and there's a marauding fox disturbing the peace. He also has some personal troubles to sort out. This will be a roller-coaster summer, one that Danny will never, ever forget."
